You can check Mr Gault's availability or book online here.

The location of your consultation appointment does not limit your choice of hospital for the procedure itself.

For patients with straightforward problems, a standard (twenty minute) consultation is sufficient. If your concerns are complex or if you have had failed surgery undertaken elsewhere and are looking for a second opinion, an extended (thirty minute) consultation will be required.

Whereas pre-COVID, it was often possible to allow consultations to over-run a little, social distancing and hygiene requirements mean that timing of appointments is overseen more strictly.  To make the most of your consultation, please book the amount of time you feel you will require.

Mr Gault’s fee for a short (twenty minute) consultation is £240, and £295 for an extended thirty minute consultation. All fees are payable on booking.

Mr Gault is also available on video by Skype or Microsoft Teams at a cost of £295 for a 20 minute consultation.  The final assessment would still need to be made face to face, but it would at least enable Mr Gault to advise you of the various options so that a surgery could be pencilled if appropriate. A fee of £240 is payable for the subsequent face-to-face consultation. Your photos and a good video Skype connection would be useful when taking up such a consultation.

Mr Gault’s consultation fees and follow-up fees are covered in full by only some insurance companies.  Most insurers have reduced their remuneration for surgical procedures, however, and there may be a shortfall which is payable by the patient. PPP (Private Patients Plan) members should also be aware that the company do not pay for follow-up fees within ten days of your surgery.  Aviva members should be aware that the insurer has reduced the amount payable for a number of CCSD codes including S2500, S0922 and S0923, and that you may face a shortfall for these codes.

There may also be an excess on your policy, or specific exclusions.  You will be asked to settle any shortfall in full and we strongly advise that you check that you have authorisation from your Insurer for the procedure you contemplate together with benefit maxima.  We will be happy to provide you with the appropriate codes.

Notice of cancellation is accepted Monday to Friday 9-4:30 and must be confirmed immediately by email. Payment for a cancelled consultation or review appointment is refundable provided cancellation is made 48 hours or more in advance of the appointment time. Should you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the appointment fees may be charged. Please note that fees will not be refunded for cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance.

Payment for a cancelled surgical appointment is refundable provided cancellation is made three weeks or more in advance of the appointment time. Cancellation of surgery notified with less than three week's notice but more than one week's notice is charged at 50% of the fee paid, unless the slot can be filled. Cancellation of surgery notified with less than one week's notice but more than 48 hours’ notice are charged at 100% of the fee paid, unless the slot can be filled.
