Q: Should I bring my child along to the first consultation? I'm worried that the explanation of what is required might scare her?

A: Mr Gault would generally advise that he prefers not to undertake surgery on children until the child herself/himself wished it, but that he is happy to discuss it with or without your child there, according to what you think is best for her.  You should expect him to be very honest with the whole family, but not in a way which makes the procedure seem frightening.  He generally advises parents to open the door to conversations about appearance in general at whatever time you think appropriate, sometimes for example, by making reference to someone else with the same problem.
